About WADÉ

The Wacca and Dorcas Evivie Foundation is a family-led public-benefit legacy initiative established to honour the lives and continue the contributions of Wacca and Dorcas Evivie.

Their lives were defined by faith, sacrifice, resilience, hard work, education, enterprise and an enduring commitment to building people. WADÉ transforms these inherited values into practical opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen families and serve communities.

We are not merely remembering a legacy. We are continuing it.

The legacy

The legacy of Wacca and Dorcas Evivie

Wacca and Dorcas Evivie understood the transforming power of opportunity. Although their own access to formal education was limited by the circumstances of their early lives, they worked tirelessly to ensure that their children could learn, grow and become useful to society.

Wacca gave sacrificially to educate his family. Dorcas combined prayer, enterprise, discipline and uncommon resilience to build lives, restore broken bridges and keep opening doors for others. Through hard work and personal sacrifice, they turned limited beginnings into possibilities for the generations after them.

WADÉ exists so that their contribution will not end as a family memory. It will continue through education, mentorship, enterprise, service and intentional investment in people.

From the family’s essay, “They were denied education—so they educated a generation”

1958
“Wacca and Dorcas married in 1958. Dorcas was only fourteen—a teenage bride whose formal education had ended far too soon.”
62years
“A marriage that endured for approximately sixty-two years, until Wacca's passing on September 6, 2020.”
6years apart
“They both departed in September—Papa on September 6, 2020, and Mama on September 16, 2026, exactly six years apart.”

September

“September will therefore remain sacred in our family story: a month of remembrance, gratitude and renewed commitment to service.”

“Their annual September memorial will not be marked only by speeches and photographs. It will become a season of legacy in action.”

September. Papa died on 6 September 2020 and Mama on 16 September 2026.

Wacca and Dorcas Evivie may have been denied education, but denial did not have the final word. Their lives became the answer. Their children became the evidence.

They laboured. We received. Now, we must build for others.

“WADÉ is not simply a memorial to two departed parents. It is a bridge between gratitude and responsibility—between what we inherited and what we will intentionally pass on.”

The Foundation is awarding its inaugural education support scholarship of ₦200,000 to Adaramola Collins Oluwadamilare, a student of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara.

Collins is the son of Onome, who cared faithfully for Dorcas Evivie for almost three years and remained by her side until her final breath. Their relationship grew beyond caregiving: Dorcas became a mother to Onome, and Onome became a daughter to her.

Dorcas encouraged Onome to send Collins to a higher institution and supported that dream in her own way. Through this first scholarship, WADÉ carries that support forward.

This is legacy in action: remembrance translated into service, and one life opening a door for another.
